What was it like growing up in Michigan?
I’m still here. My house is still here. If you grew up in California, that would be all that you know right? So for me I love it. The weather is kind of crazy don’t get me wrong like right now we have snow and it’s so cold. All my family and friends are here. It’s home.
How did you get your start in the adult industry?
I was a registered nurse for eight years. I started web camming just for a few months for extra money and I did it for three months and really like it, I was like wow this is pretty good money. It was a guy in my chat room who suggested I give porn a try. That made me curious and so I started a Twitter and reached out to directors and producers. I didn’t have an agent so I was doing all of it on my own. Finally after corresponding for three or four months people kind of took me serious. So I booked a flight to LA and shot my first scenes with Brazzers and Kink.
Before you started web camming you never considered a career in adult entertainment?
For me I never thought about actually doing it but I admired the women that I watched in porn. They were comfortable with their sexuality and owned it. I never thought in my mind…it was a challenge for me. Also it was some things going on financially with family. It just made sense. I never thought people would find out. I guess I didn’t realize how big the internet was with porn at the time. Maybe because I was old school and was watching it on DVD.
Are you in a relationship and how do you balance that with your career?
I have someone in my life. If your gonna be in porn you have to have somebody who is confident, if you don’t it’s not going to work in the relationship. He has to be mature, boys don’t get it. A true man, he understands it. Not saying that he has to accept it because not all men can accept it but I think they have to be able to differentiate between love, sex, and relationship intimacy. What I do is work. I don’t care what happens to that person. I don’t wish bad upon them. I’m not concerned with their day. I’m there to work. You have to be able to separate. If you look at the history of porn every successful woman in porn has had a successful support group.
You have your own talent agency and production company, tell me about it?
I’m very excited yesterday we signed three new girls. For me it’s about quality not quantity. I want career driven girls not girls who want to pay their rent. I love the freedom to book talent.
What’s next for Kendra Lust?
I have a big announcement on the 15th of this month I’m exclusively under contract with someone. I’m starting a line outside of porn that I can sell in stores, I can’t talk about it just yet but stay tuned!!
